How do I transfer my points out?
The process for transferring points from RewardsCentral to another rewards program varies for each transfer partner. However this is the typical process:
- You must have an existing account at the rewards program you wish to transfer your points to. This account must be registered in the same name as your RewardsCentral account.
- Sign in to RewardsCentral and visit the points transfer page for the partner you wish to transfer to. You will be prompted to link your accounts by entering an account identifier for your membership account at the transfer partner. This will typically be an account number.
- Once your accounts are linked and you have the minimum balance required, you can request to transfer points. Follow the instructions on screen.
- The time taken to transfer your points varies, but you should expect it to take at least a few weeks.
Why can't I transfer my points at the rate of 1 point for 1 point?
Each rewards program has different policies and requirements which affect the value of the points in that program. For this reason, you should never assume that points in one rewards program are equivalent in value to points in another rewards program. Also, there is often an administration cost associated with processing a points transfer, and this cost needs to be built into the points transfer rate. This is why reward points can rarely be transferred between programs at a ratio of 1:1.
Even though the transfer or redemption rate may not be 1:1, there are other benefits to transferring your points that may make it a worthwhile option for you.
